Why this module and what do I hope to take away from it?

I feel that I need a more "down to earth" social perspective on how we can mitigate climate change. Before now, my approach to this issue has been too narrowly focussed (e.g. measuring carbon sequestration potentials of land mangement practices). I want to understand what carbon -and climate change- mean to people and this module will help me to do this. Also, this ties in well with a (potential!) dissertation topic. I'm also very interested in learning about alternative well-being indicators that could be used by the corporate sector.

  1. Hi Sam, sounds like you're on the right course as we'll be dealing with those issues in some detail. Also good that you've come to the course from a different background - there's loads of different perspectives on the course so it should be a good chance to test out various interdisciplinary ideas - it's certainly a challenge to think about how the more technical and the more social stuff can work alongside each other...
